Kachin State in Myanmar has endured conflict for over 60 years, and witnessing the struggles of my people inspired me to raise awareness and support the community through my designs.
Despite living in a land abundant with jade, many Kachin people have never had the chance to own or appreciate even a single piece of jade jewellery. Instead, countless individuals have been forced into displacement due to ongoing conflicts over jade’s natural resources.
I drew inspiration from the Manau Taing, a totem that embodies Kachin identity. To honour this heritage, I handcrafted statement jewellery that tells the story through bold, distinctive forms. In creating these pieces, I deliberately used wasted or discarded jade, transforming what might have been overlooked into something meaningful and precious. Each design celebrates the philosophy of “imperfectly perfect”, embracing the beauty found in flaws, history, and resilience.
Through this collection, I want to share a piece of my own connection to Kachin culture, transforming discarded jade into jewellery that tells a story — honouring my people, their resilience, and the spirit of the land I call home.
